The Norwegian version is legally binding.

These terms apply to all jobs carried out by EcoLaser AS, unless otherwise agreed in writing, for example by email. If you are a consumer, the following also apply: the Craftsman Services Act (håndverkertjenesteloven) and the Cancellation Act (angrerettloven). Nothing in these terms gives you fewer rights than the law does.

You are a consumer if you buy the service mainly for private use. If you buy on behalf of a company, association or public body, you are a business customer.

1. Who we are

EcoLaser AS · Org. no. 937 614 551
Brobekkveien 17, 3531 Krokkleiva, Norway
Phone: +47 901 24 025 · Email: info@ecolaser.no

2. Quotes and agreement

Assessing your project and giving a price estimate is free and without obligation.

Site visits are free in zones 1–3 (see section 3). Further away, we agree a price for the site visit in advance.

Written quotes are valid for 14 days from the date of the quote.

The agreement is concluded when you confirm the quote in writing, by email or text message.

The quote describes what is to be treated, the approximate area, method, price and planned date. Work not included in the quote is not included in the price.

If additional work turns out to be needed to complete the job, we agree it with you before carrying it out. Additional work is invoiced at the hourly rate in the quote, unless we agree a fixed price for it.

If you want us to work in the evening, at the weekend or at short notice, a surcharge of 50 per cent is added to the hourly rate. For hourly work, we invoice the first hour started, then per half hour started.

If the material is uncertain, we make a small test patch before we start. The test patch is part of the site visit. We try different settings to find the best method for your particular surface. We choose the spot together with you, preferably out of sight, and start at low power. You accept that the test patch may have permanent changes in colour, gloss or texture. This is the purpose of the test and is not considered damage or a defect.

3. Price, call-out and travel

We work with a fixed price, hourly rate or price estimate. The quote states which applies.

A price estimate is an estimate. For consumers, the final price may not significantly exceed the estimate, and never by more than 15 per cent.

With a fixed price, the price is fixed. With an hourly rate or price estimate: if the job turns out to be significantly larger than expected during the work, for example because of more layers of paint or hidden damage, we stop and agree further work with you before continuing. If we cannot agree, we end the work. You then pay for the work carried out up to that point at the hourly rate in the quote. The area already treated remains as it is.

We do not charge invoice or order fees.

Call-out and travel – once per working day, return trip:
Zone 1 – Hole municipality: free
Zone 2 – Ringerike, Jevnaker and Bærum: NOK 550
Zone 3 – Oslo, Asker, Lier and Drammen: NOK 850, including tolls and time in traffic
Further away: NOK 8 per km return from Krokkleiva, minimum NOK 850. Travel time is agreed in the quote.
Parking, ferries and any overnight stays are invoiced at actual cost. The surcharge is always stated in the quote.

4. What we need from you

Correct information about the object: material, age, previous treatment and known damage.

Suspected hazardous substances: Let us know if you know or suspect that paint or coatings may contain lead, asbestos, PCBs or organotin compounds (old antifouling). This applies in particular to buildings and boats from before 1990.

Access, parking and power: free access and parking for at least one van with equipment close to the work site, and access to a standard power socket (230 V), unless otherwise agreed. If we have to pay for parking, the cost is added to the invoice.

Clear work area: The work area is accessible and free of objects that obstruct the work.

Permits: You obtain any necessary permission from the owner, housing cooperative, harbour or boatyard, and make sure their rules are followed, for example rules on hull cleaning and waste collection.

If we cannot get access at the agreed time, or the information turns out to be wrong, we may charge for the extra time and travel this causes.

5. Safety during the work

We use a class 4 industrial laser. We set up a safety zone around the work site. No people or animals may enter the zone without protective equipment. If anyone enters the zone, we stop the work.

We collect loose residue and dust with an industrial vacuum cleaner. For hazardous coatings we also use suitable respiratory protection and agree any additional measures with you (see section 6).

Outdoor work requires dry weather. Damp surfaces give poor results, and rain is a risk to the equipment. In strong wind, dust and residue spread and we cannot collect them. In that case we move the job to the first available day, at no extra cost to you. Your rights under the Craftsman Services Act are not affected.

6. Asbestos, lead paint and other hazardous materials

Asbestos: We do not work on materials that contain or may contain asbestos. Such work requires a permit from the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority (Arbeidstilsynet), which we do not have. If we discover asbestos during the work, we stop and agree how to proceed with you.

Lead and other hazardous coatings: We only remove such coatings with additional protective measures. This may affect the price and time required. We let you know before we continue.

Waste: Laser cleaning produces little waste. We take ordinary residue with us. Residue classed as hazardous waste, such as antifouling and lead paint, is delivered to an approved facility. This is included in the price, unless otherwise stated in the quote.

7. What to expect from the result

Laser cleaning removes coatings and dirt layer by layer and is gentle on most surfaces. Even so, there are a few things you should know:

The surface determines the result. Wood may become slightly darker or lighter on the surface. Plastic, gelcoat and painted surfaces may change gloss or colour. That is why we test on a small patch when in doubt.

Hidden damage becomes visible. Rust, rot, cracks, old repairs or thin areas may be hidden under the coating. Such damage existed before we started and only becomes visible once the coating has been removed. We document it with photos, show it to you and advise on further treatment.

Freshly cleaned metal rusts quickly. Bare steel should be primed or protected shortly after treatment. This is not included in the price unless stated in the quote.

8. Timing and delays

We start and finish at the agreed time. If we cannot keep to the time, for example due to illness or equipment failure, we let you know as soon as possible and agree a new time with you.

Consumers have the rights in the event of delay that follow from the Craftsman Services Act.

9. Items you deliver to us

By agreement, smaller items can be delivered to us for treatment or sent to us as a sample. We store them responsibly while they are with us.

When the work is finished, we let you know. You collect the item within 14 days, unless we agree otherwise. If you or we send the item by post or courier, you pay the shipping. If you arrange the shipping yourself, the item travels at your risk.

If you do not collect the item within the deadline, we may charge reasonable compensation for further storage. We tell you the amount before we start charging it.

We may retain the item until the work has been paid for.

If the item is not collected, we may sell it in accordance with the Norwegian Act on the right to sell uncollected items (lov om rett til å selja uhenta ting). Among other things, this means that we first send you a written notice, and that a sale can take place no earlier than three months after the work was completed. Any amount we receive beyond what you owe us is paid to you. Items with no sale value may be disposed of under the same rules.

We only return samples if this has been agreed. Otherwise we dispose of them 30 days after sending you the result.

10. Cancellation

You may cancel the job in whole or in part at any time.

Cancellation no later than 48 hours before the agreed start is free of charge.

For later cancellation, you pay for work already carried out plus a fixed cancellation fee: the call-out charge for your zone and one hour of work.

If you have a right of withdrawal (see section 11), the rules of the Cancellation Act apply instead within the withdrawal period.

11. Right of withdrawal for consumers

If the agreement is concluded at your home, at the work site, or at a distance (phone, email, text message or contact form), you as a consumer have a 14-day right of withdrawal from the day the agreement was concluded.

You exercise your right of withdrawal by giving us a clear notice before the deadline expires, for example by email to info@ecolaser.no. You may use the withdrawal form at the bottom of this page, but you do not have to.

If you want us to start before the withdrawal period has expired, you must expressly request this by email or text message and confirm that you know the right of withdrawal is lost once the service has been completed.

If you have asked us to start before the deadline and then withdraw, you pay an amount proportionate to what has been carried out up to the time you notified us that you wish to withdraw, compared with the entire agreement.

If the service is completed within the withdrawal period at your express request, you no longer have a right of withdrawal.

There is no right of withdrawal for urgent repairs or services where you yourself have asked us to come and carry them out.

12. Payment

We send an invoice when the job is finished. Payment is due within 10 days.

For larger jobs or jobs lasting several days, we may agree an advance or part payment in the quote. This applies to both consumers and business customers.

In the event of late payment, we charge late-payment interest under the Late Payment Interest Act and a reminder fee under the Debt Collection Act and Regulations. The reminder fee is stated on the invoice.

If you disagree with the invoice, let us know before the due date. You may withhold the disputed amount.

13. Complaints

You are welcome to inspect the work together with us when we have finished.

If you discover a defect later, let us know within a reasonable time after discovering it, preferably in writing with photos.

For consumers, the complaint deadlines of the Craftsman Services Act apply: normally up to 2 years, and up to 5 years for work on real property or where the result is intended to last considerably longer.

For business customers, the complaint deadline is 12 months after the work was completed.

In the event of a defect, we are normally first given the opportunity to remedy it at no cost to you, unless you have special reason to refuse.

14. Liability

We are liable for damage we cause to the object or other property through error or negligence.

We are not liable for damage or weaknesses that already existed in the surface (see section 7), or for the consequences of having received incorrect or incomplete information, unless we should have discovered the error.

Towards business customers, our liability is limited to the value of the job, and we do not cover indirect losses such as downtime or lost profit, unless we have acted with gross negligence or intent.

For consumers, the compensation rules of the Craftsman Services Act apply.

15. Photos

We take before and after photos to document the work. We only use photos on our website or on social media if you have agreed to this. We never show names, addresses, registration numbers or people without your consent.

16. Privacy

How we process your information: Privacy policy.

17. Disputes and jurisdiction

We always try to find a solution together with you first. Consumers can complain to the Norwegian Consumer Authority (Forbrukertilsynet), which mediates between the parties free of charge. If the matter is not resolved there, it can be brought before the Consumer Disputes Commission (Forbrukerklageutvalget). Norwegian law applies.

For business customers, Ringerike og Hallingdal District Court is the agreed venue. For consumers, the statutory rules on venue apply.

Withdrawal form

Fill in and return this form if you wish to withdraw from the agreement.
